Ok, so we have a trailer waiting for us. However... Seems the husband has finally got into my groove of thinking and might be considering moving back to NY...
There are a lot of things contributing to this thinking... However, the biggest one would be the in-laws. The whole point of us moving down here was because he wanted to be closer to his family.
We wanted to wait to move until we had saved enough, on our own, to afford it. His dad said, "Don't worry about money. He can get a job once you guys move down here." Took us five months, and then it was a relative of a friend of his dad's at work that got him the job.
They don't include us in anything. The latest happens to be this past weekend-a 4th of July cook-out at his step-mother's mother's house. Were we invited? No. We didn't find out about it until tonight when I was making dinner and my sister-in-law mentioned something about it off-handedly.
We don't ever get invited out to dinner, or anything for that matter, unless my sister-in-law points out that it'd be rude not to invite us. When they come here to the house, they stop at our bedroom door to say hi and that's the last we hear from them the whole time they're here, unless his step-mother decides to tell us that we owe them money-like she did tonight. I had to pointedly tell her we won't have any money until Friday.
The only things keeping us down here right now happen to be my husband's sisters, because clearly, his father doesn't seem to care if we're here or not...
At least my family, as dysfunctional and crazy as they are, care. They like family get-togethers. They go out of their way to make sure we're invited and are there. They want us around. They want us to be involved in things... Unfortunately, they happen to be 800 miles away.
I know my younger sister-in-law (the one we live with) really severely does not want us to move in the worst kind of way. But, truly, if it comes down to it, and NY is better for us, then we're going.
As it stands, I'm diabetic and can't get on medicaid down here because we have no kids-no joke, I was seriously told this. The free drug program I'm on right now blows. I've been without my meds going on a month now. They can't help me if I can't take them. In NY, it didn't matter if we had kids or not. I needed it, couldn't afford health insurance, got it.
My husband has been working at this job since April. It was supposed to be-so says the handbook-that he worked 30 days and they took him off of probation. He's still on probation. As long as he's on it, they don't have to give him medical coverage, he can't start ecrueing vacation time, a possible raise, and he can't buy from them. That screws us in more ways than one. Mainly (of course) the medical, vacation time, and raise. We're not really all that concerned if we can purchase items from them or not. He's said things to them, more than once. He was supposed to have an evaluation at the beginning of last month, and here it is the beginning of this month, and still nothing.
And then there's this house... I'm just not comfortable in this house. I like the weather here, I love that the people are nicer. But I'm not happy -here-. I'm hoping that we can move into this trailer and try it for a few months and see how it works out. I know he's not happy that it'll add fifteen to twenty minutes to his commute time, but... if it helps, it's worth it?
I don't know where to turn with this... What are your opinions and thoughts on this whole situation?
